Stig Broeckx (Lotto-Soudal) has been knocked down by a motorbike at today’s Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne. The incident happened with 34 kilometres of the race remaining.
The Belgian rider was drifting to the right-hand side of the road when he was hit by a motorbike overtaking the bunch.
This latest incident follows on from a string of similar incidents last season. In last year’s Tour of Flanders, a Shimano neutral service car collided with Jesse Sergent leaving the rider with a broken collarbone.
Also at the Tour of Flanders, another neutral service car slammed into an FDJ team car, which was stopping to provide their rider Sebastien Chavanel with a new wheel. The FDJ car was then pushed into Chavanel, sending him to the ground.
