Michael Albasini of Orica GreenEDGE took a great second place at Liège-Bastogne-Liège on Sunday behind Team Sky’s Wout Poels.
This edition of Backstage Pass from the Australian team goes behind the scenes of their Swiss rider’s second place. It capped off a great Spring Classics campaign for the team, following their Paris-Roubaix win courtesy of Mathew Hayman.
The film shows the team preparing for the race that morning as they put on additional layers in anticipation of the terrible weather they faced.
It also shows the reactions of the support team as they watch Albasini’s bid for glory in the closing stages.
“It was really tough out there,” said Albasini after the race. “In those kinds of conditions you are always thinking about staying as warm and dry as possible especially towards the end.”
