The Momentum 947 Cycle Challenge which took place in Johannesburg today is the second largest mass participation time cycling event in the world after the Cape Argus race also in South Africa.

The event covers 94.7 kilometres, as it is sponsored by a local radio station called 94.7fm. 35,000 cyclists took part this morning and Marianne Vos was the fastest woman, beating her nearest rival Ashleigh Pasio by nearly four minutes.

MTN-Qhubeka World’s Till Drobisch won the men’s race just ahead of Reynard Butler and Herman Fouche. The men’s race has been won in the past by the likes of Robbie Hunter and Martin Velits.
