This video posted by The Bicycle Channel on Youtube was an interesting test. The film shows the commute of a cyclist from the Melbourne suburb of Essendon to the Central Business District.
He added up the number of cars he overtook and subtracted the number that passed him. The total number that he passed out is pretty impressive.
It helps to show the benefit of choosing cycling as a method of commuting rather than being gridlocked in a car.
