Nacer Bouhanni took the win in today’s second stage of the Vuelta a Andalucia Ruta Ciclista Del Sol (UCI 2.1) from Palomares del Río to Córdoba. The French rider won the stage in a sprint ahead of Fabio Felline (Trek – Segafredo) and Ben Swift (Team Sky).

However, without specifically mentioning his name, Simon Geschke of Team Giant-Alpecin posted a tweet later this afternoon saying: “Not a fan of sprinters that get pushed up the last climb by teammates and then win the stage.”

The German rider is also racing at the Ruta del Sol and finished in 19th position today.

Today’s stage included the 516-metre climb of Alta de la Trassierras just 20 kilometres from the finish and a good number of riders were dropped on the climb. Bouhanni did manage to hang though in the lead group of sixty riders.

Thanks to his win, Bouhanni took over the lead from previous race leader Daniele Bennati (Tinkoff).
