To mark the occasion of the 100th edition of the Tour of Flanders this year, a brewery in Belgium have produced a special series of beers.

Kwaremont Bier are honouring the six riders who have each won three editions of De Ronde by releasing six specially labelled bottles of their beer.

Achiel Buysse was the first to achieve the feat of winning the race three times, when he won during the war years of 1940, 1941 and 1943.

The Italian rider Fiorenzo Magni then became the first cyclist to win three times in succession with his victories in 1949, 1950 and 1951. Belgian rider Eric Leman managed to win his races during the Eddy Merckx era taking victory in 1970, 1972 and 1973.

Johan Museeuw was next when he won in 1993, 1995 and 1998 and two current riders have achieved the feat. Tom Boonen won in 2005, 2006, 2012 and Fabian Cancellara in 2010, 2013 and 2014.

The beers will be available tomorrow in Belgium for anyone buying a copy of Het Nieuwsblad.
