Alex Dowsett (Movistar) has released a video from his hospital bed, where he says that he still holds out hope of making an attempt on the World Hour Record, saying, “We’re doing everything we can to make ‘The Perfect Hour’ on February 27 still work though we might have to call it ‘The Almost Perfect Hour’ because of this.”
Dowsett crashed earlier this week during training in Essex, fracturing his collarbone. The accident looked to have jeopardised his chances of breaking the UCI Hour Record.
In the short video, Dowsett said, “Movistar, Canyon, Endura, Campagnolo and myself will do everything we can to make this happen. Obviously if it doesn’t recover as well as it should then we will postpone it but it is a case of never say never.”
