An Post-Chain Reaction Cycles have announced their team for Le Samyn (UCI 1.1) which takes place tomorrow 1 March in Fayt-le-Franc, Belgium.

The riders will face one long lap of 102.6-kilometres before four laps of a 25-kilometre circuit and will tackle numerous sectors of pavé along the way.

Lining up for An Post are Jonas Bokeloh, Bas Tietema, Jacob Scott, Sean McKenna, Sean MacKinnon, Conor Hennebry, Przemyslaw Kasperkiewicz and Massimo Vanderaerden.

The team raced at the Volta ao Alentejo last week where Kasperkiewicz took a top ten placing on Stage 3 and also in the Youth Classification.

The riders will face a tough day in the saddle with low temperatures and rain expected adding to the difficulties from the numerous cobbled sectors.

GP Samyn Tweet

An Post’s Directeur Sportif Kurt Bogaerts says: “It will be interesting to see how the team can adjust from racing in sunny and warm climbs of Portugal to the tough conditions of northern Europe especially against such opposition.”

Originally established in 1968 as a professional race called GP Fayt-le-Franc it was renamed Memorial Le Samyn in 1970 after the death of Jose Samyn in 1969. Last year’s race was won by Niki Terpstra (Quick Step Floors)
