Antoine Vayer has appeared on the Off the Ball radio show where he has discussed Chris Froome’s performance in the Tour de France, a possibility change in mentality in the peloton and also how Lance Armstrong could possibly be used to help clean up the sport through his knowledge of how to beat the system. The Frenchman is a fomer coach with the Festina team.

Regarding Armstrong, Vayer said: “The best hackers are the best people to defend people from hacking. I think Lance and [Johan] Bruyneel hacked the system and we should have employed them to see who are again the cycling hackers.”

Vayer has recently been in the news, when he published data from Chris Froome which had leaked into the public domain. He says of Froome: “We saw in the past year many [signs of] progress because performances were decreased. Then some guys like Chris Froome appear and it is the same performances. So that makes a lot of questions.”

Regarding the current state of cycling, Vayer feels that there are “plenty of ways to cheat and plenty of ways to lie,” but that there are an increasing number of riders who are providing him with information and willing to break the omerta.
