UCI World Champion Peter Sagan met the press at BORA – hansgrohe’s pre Tour of Flanders press conference where he spoke about his Bora-hansgrohe team having options for the race with the addition of Daniel Oss.

Sagan starts the race in good form having won last weekend’s Gent-Wevelegem and he also took top tens at Milan–San Remo and Strade Bianche. The Slovakian has shown previously that Flanders is a race that suits him having taken victory in 2016, which to-date is his only Monument win. He has also finished in 2nd (2013), 4th (2015) and 5th (2012).

“Our team improved a lot and with Daniel (Oss) we have also some options regarding tactics,”
said Sagan. “Of course, the Ronde is a special race with lots of heritage, but the course suits my abilities, that’s why it is also a special race for me.

“Coming from a win at Wevelgem is also important, because it’s good to already have something under your belt. We’ll see how the race turns out tomorrow, but I am confident that we will give our best.”

BORA – hansgrohe Team Manager Ralph Denk also spoke at the press conference where he outlined that he expects Quick-Step Floors to be in the action from early on in the race.

“Last year, we came to the Ronde for the first time as WorldTeam, since then, I think we improved a lot,” said Denk. “The guys showed in the last races that they are ready, and I am confident that we have good chances tomorrow.

“We expect a hard race and that Quickstep will try and go early again, but I think we have the team to support Peter coming into the final in a promising position. Then we’ll see who has the legs to make the difference.”
