Team Sky said to be interested in signing Steven Kruijswijk

It has been reported in Het Nieuwsblad that Team Sky are interested in signing Dutch rider Steven Kruijswijk, stating that his agent is in talks with the British team.

The 29 year-old currently rides with LottoNL-Jumbo but his contract is up at the end of the year.

Kruijswijk came close to a surprise result in May of this year when it looked like he might win the Giro d’Italia overall. He led the race by three minutes from Esteban Chaves going into the nineteenth stage

Unfortunately, he crashed on the descent of the Colle Dell’Agnello and although he was able to continue, Kruijswijk finished the stage almost five minutes down on Vincenzo Nibali and more than four minutes behind Esteban Chaves. He went on to finish the race in fourth overall.
