A new union representing all professional British and Irish road cyclists at the UCI World Tour and Pro Continental levels has been launched.

The British and Irish Professional Cyclists’ Association (BIPCA) includes Chris Froome, Dan Martin and Mark Cavendish amongst its 34 members. Ben Greetham will serve as chairman with Dimension Data for Qhubeka rider Matt Brammeier serving as Secretary-Treasurer.

According to their website, “the establishment of BIPCA began in January 2016, when the 34 British and Irish professional riders moved to vote for an individual to represent their interests at the Cyclistes Professionnels Associes.”

The Cyclistes Professionnels Associes (CPA) is an international association which represents UCI World Tour and Pro Continental cyclists which was established in 1999.

BIPCA also state that “our aim is to build our association into a full service athletes union for all male and female professional road cyclists within Great Britain and Ireland.”
