This video of Peter Sagan on the descent of the Col de Manse during the last few kilometres of Stage 6 really shows his skill on the bike. The Slovakian champion really gave it his all in trying to catch the eventual stage winner Ruben Plaza of Lampre.

The descent has seen a number of riders come to grief over the years, but that didn’t seem to faze Sagan. The Colombian rider Jarlinson Pantano (IAM Cycling) tried to stick with him on the decent, but was dropped half-way down.

At the start of the descent, he had been a minute behind Plaza, and reduced this to thirty seconds. However, he was unable to catch him. Afterwards, he said: “I was again very close. I tried, and I went full gas on the descent, I took some risks also, but it was not enough to win the stage.”
