The vast majority of professional cyclists who responded to a survey regarding Tuesday’s Tour de Suisse stage feel that the finish was too dangerous.

The finish to the stage included a right-hand bend situated just 140 metres from the finish line.

Fortunately, there were no accidents at the final corner. Danny van Poppel (Team Sky) did come close to coming down as he fought to get into the corner in first position. The Dutch rider managed to stay upright though despite locking up and nearly colliding with the barrier.

The survey was sent out by Lotto-Soudal rider Adam Hansen on behalf of the CPA (Cyclistes Professionnels Associés) and he asked the question: “Do you feel today’s finish was dangerous and the finish should have remained on the same road without turning right?”

The two options to the question were:

 – Yes, it was too dangerous and should have finished without turning right.
  – No, the finish was fine.

The CPA received 96 responses with 88 votes (91.67%) deeming the finish to have been too dangerous and just 8 votes (8.33%) feeling that the finish was fine.
