2017 Slovenian triple champion Luka Mezgec has extended his contract with Australian UCI WorldTour team Mitchelton-SCOTT until the end of the 2020 season.
A Giro d’Italia stage winner in 2014, Mezgec joined the GreenEDGE set up in 2016. Last year was arguably his most successful to-date with wins at the Tour of Slovenia, the Arnhem-Veenendaal Classic and an impressive triple header at the Slovenian national championships – sealing victory in the road race, Mountain Bike and Cyclo-cross events.
This season, he helped the team to victory at the Hammer Hong Kong and was also a member of the Vuelta a España squad which helped his team-mate Simon Yates to claim the overall victory.

He is a lot like Matteo Trentin in the sense that he can work successfully as a leader in his own right or a lead-out guy for a pure sprinter.”
