There has been continuing support for the Junior Tour of Ireland since the news emerged that the organisers may struggle to host the 2015 edition. Yesterday evening, Alice Sherratt released the following statement announcing the establishment of a Trust Fund, and details of three sportives being organised to help support the race. We will publish more details about these sportives closer to the date.

Already, Garda Cycling Club have donated €500 to the Junior Tour and there has been overwhelming goodwill towards the race from the Irish cycling community.

The organisation of the Junior Tour have been simply overwhelmed by the level of support and suggestions coming from the Irish Cycling Community over the past 10 days.

We have taken on board the promotion of a sportive and the setting up of the Junior Tour Trust Fund.

There are three dates for your diary for fundraising sportives for the Junior Tour Trust.

On December 13th in Munster a sportive will be organised by Will Curtin of Cork Giant store and all entry fees will go to the Junior Tour Trust Fund with further details to be announced by them shortly.

On Sunday February 1st the Junior Tour Organising Committee in conjunction with Irish Air Corps Cycling Association will host a fundraising sportive from Casement Aerodrome, Baldonnel, Dublin which is also the venue of the popular Morgan Sparrow Memorial Sportive. Further details of routes etc will be announced shortly.

On Saturday 7th February a sportive will be organised by Sean McNicholl of Church Island Cycling in Bellaghy Co. Derry with all entry fees also going to the Junior Tour Trust Fund Full details are available on cyclinguster.com or the events Facebook Page .

The organising committee, based on suggestions from individuals and clubs have been working hard to arrange the necessary administration for the setting up of a secure donation option for those interested. This option can be accessed through the www.juniortourofireland.com or www.irishroadclub.com

Once again we would like to thank everybody at home and abroad, for their support in ensuring that this vitally important event for the youth of Irish Cycling continues for many years to come.
