Dan Martin (Cannondale-Garmin) sent the below tweet yesterday outlining that he had completed the Tour de Romandie with two broken ribs.
Earlier in the week, Martin had tweeted that he was “Feeling really beaten up and struggling to breathe after LBL crash but hanging tough and helping the team”
He had suffered the injury when he crashed in Liege-Bastogne-Liege the previous weekend.
Martin persevered in Romandie, but was obviously still suffering. He made it to Sunday’s time-trial but was clearly struggling with his injuries. He tweeted the following photo with the message “Not exactly aero today. TT bike was impossible with my liege injuries. My worst GC result but very proud to finish” as he was obviously in discomfort.
He finished the Swiss race in 104th place, over an hour behind the winner Ilnur Zakarin.
Here’s hoping he makes a quick recovery.
