Chris Froome (Team Sky) has today confirmed that he will take part in La Vuelta a Espana, which starts in Puerto Banus on Saturday, 22 August.

Following on from his success in France last month, he will be attempting to become just the third rider to win the Tour-Vuelta double in the same season. The only two riders to have achieved this to-date are Jacques Anquetil in 1963 and Bernard Hinault in 1978.

Froome took to Twitter earlier today to confirm his participation.
