Tour de France leader Chris Froome (Team Sky) and his nearest challenger Fabio Aru (Astana Pro Team) managed to stay upright after going off the road during today’s twelfth stage from Pau to Peyragudes.
On the descent of Port de Balès as the riders were nearing the penultimate climb of the Col de Peyresourde , the group of main GC contenders were being led by Team Sky and Froome’s team mate Mikel Nieve was the first to misjudge the bend with Froome and Aru on his wheel.
Nieve veered between a couple of camper vans parked on the bend as Froome and Aru braked hard to avoid colliding with any spectators.
However, all three were quickly back on the road with the other riders in the group waiting for the yellow jersey to get back.
