Following on from his recent win in the Olympic Road Race, BMC have produced a special-edition golden bike for the Olympic champion Greg Van Avermaet. His team have also added gold bands to his jersey sleeves and neck, as they have already done with 2008 Olympic champion Samuel Sanchez.
Both BMC and Van Avermaet posted photos of the Teammachine SLR01 yesterday which also features a gold fi’zi:k saddle.
The Belgian rode the new bike at Bretagne Classic – Ouest-France (1.UWT) today where he finished in 45th place, 9″ down on winner Oliver Naesen (IAM Cycling).
