Daniil Fominykh of Astana Pro Team will be out of action for at least a month after falling into a ravine on today’s final stage of Paris-Nice.

The Kazakh rider needed to be rescued by emergency services and transported to hospital.

His team have since provided an update on his condition, whereby they confirmed that he had not lost consciousness. In a further statement though, the Astana team did confirm that he had fractured vertebrae.

Their statement read as follows:

“Daniil Fominykh has fracture of 2 lumbar vertebrae L1 and L3. At least 1 month prognosis. #ForzaDaniil”
