Following on from a tweet last week from Dutch rider Johnny Hoogerland where he asked UCI president Brian Cookson
“Where can you go as a rider when your team does not pay your salary?”, his former Italian team have since responded.
Androni Giocattoli have since claimed in a statement that their team name was sullied by the tweet. Hoogerland apparently only received €1,910 in December instead of €4,300 as a large amount had to be paid to tax authorities.
“We thought we had solved the problem, but the tweet he sent is a serious insult to the team,” Androni have stated.
