This video from onboard cameras provides an idea of what it must feel like as a rider climbing Alpe d’Huez in the Tour de France. The footage shows the huge number of fans which descend on the mountain for the race.

Footage of the ascent and descent of the Col de la Croix de Fer is also included.

Alpe d’Huez comes across as being a tunnel of noise, especially further up the climb. Dutch Corner has built up a reputation for being particularly raucous. The crowds form a very narrow gap in parts, and it seems that riders have barely enough room to get through.

Frenchman Thibaut Pinot (FDJ) took the stage win while Chris Froome held onto yellow ahead of Sunday’s final stage to Paris.
