Alexis Roche will race next year for VC La Pomme-Marseille, according to a report on Direct Velo. The Irish rider is amongst six new signings announced by the French DN3 team.

Roche will be following in his brother Nicolas’ footsteps by signing for the team. Nicolas raced for VC La Pomme in 2003 and 2004 prior to signing his first professional contract with Cofidis.

18 year-old Alexis Roche, has raced for Mimosa Sprint Mandelieu in France as well as the Nicolas Roche Performance Team and amongst his results this season in France are two top ten placings in stages and 7th overall in the Tour Junior Causses-Aigoual-Cévennes and 19th in the Tour de la Région PACA Juniors.

In the Junior Tour of Ireland earlier this season racing in the colours of the NRPT-Magnet.ie team, Roche narrowly missed out on a stage win when he was outsprinted by his breakaway companion Gage Hecht on the final stage of the race. He finished the race in 17th place overall.

Numerous Irish riders have raced for VC La Pomme and apart from Nicolas Roche, other Irish riders who have lined up for the Marseille team are Sam Bennett, Mark Cassidy, Tim Cassidy, Philip Deignan, Dan Martin, Paidi O’Brien and Mark Scanlon.

Amongst other professional riders who have raced for the team are Fumiyuki Beppu, Maxime Bouet, Daryl Impey, Julien El Fares and Alexandre Geniez.

The other riders also signing for the team are Maxime Buguet, Damien Le Mesnager, Axel Narbonne, Jason Portal who are all joining from the VC La Pomme Junior team and Norwegian rider Christian Erwann Kaggestad.
