Adriano Malori (Movistar) has been placed in an induced coma following a high-speed crash during yesterday’s stage of the Tour de San Luis.
The Italian rider was at the head of the peloton when he crashed due to a crack in the road. He landed heavily on his head, with many behind him also crashing including his team-mates Nairo Quintana and Dani Moreno.
The 27 year-old suffered multiple fractures due to his fall and he was taken to hospital in San Luis with hospital staff later confirming that he had a “traumatic brain injury”.
The hospital are expected to release another bulletin later today with an update on his condition.
