It was a day to remember for Jesús Ezquerra in more than one way on today’s final stage of the Vuelta a España. Not only did he finish a Grand Tour for the second time in his career, he also proposed to his girlfriend midway through the stage.

The Burgos-BH rider carried a ring in his pocket and had arranged for his girlfriend to ride in the back seat of one of the team cars. He approached his girlfriend and made the proposal and thankfully for Ezquerra, she said yes. He was then congratulated by one of his team mates as he rode back to the bunch.

The 28 year-old Spaniard then went on to finish the 106-kilometre stage from Fuenlabrada to Madrid stage in 102nd position, in the same time as stage winner Fabio Jakobsen (Deceuninck Quick Step) as Primož Roglič (Team Jumbo-Visma) finished safely in the bunch to win the race overall.
