On Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th of July, some of the leading lights of European and world track cycling will descend on Sundrive Velodrome (Eamonn Ceannt Park) for the Dublin Track Cycling International. A full programme of men’s and women’s events will take place over the course of the prestigious two-day UCI event run by Cycling Ireland.

For the men’s events, overseas stars like Olympic gold-medallists Jason Kenny and Lasse Norman Hansen, 2018 team pursuit world champion Ethan Hayter, Max Beyer and Moreno De Pauw are set to line up alongside the cream of Irish track talent, with big names such as Felix English, Marc Potts and 2019 world Points bronze-medallist Mark Downey all confirmed to start.

In the women’s events, elite domestic riders including 2019 world points race silver-medallist Lydia Boylan, 2017 European Madison silver-medallist Lydia Gurley, Orla Walsh, Mia Griffin and the UCI World Cycling Centre’s Alice Sharpe will test their mettle against high-class visiting luminaries. Jetting in to race at Sundrive are, among others, 2017 European Scratch and Points champion Trine Schmidt, 2016 road race world champion Amalie Dideriksen and world team sprint bronze-medallist Victoria Williamson.

The action kicks off with the junior men’s Scratch race at 9.45am on Saturday, with the final event of the day, the women’s Scratch race, starting at 3.47pm. Day 1’s highlights include the Points races (women 1pm, men 2.44pm) and the Keirin finals (men 3.29pm, women 3.47pm).

Day 2, Sunday, sees the Omnium and the Sprint competition come to the fore, with the first of the Omnium races at 10.20am (men) and 10.51am (women) and the last of their 4 races at 3.41pm and 4.36pm respectively. The Sprint events start at 9.30am and the first of the finals will be at 3.29pm (men) and 3.37pm (women).

Spectators are encouraged to come along and lend their support on what promises to be one of the most exciting and high-quality track events held in Ireland this year.
