Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka and Qhubeka have been shortlisted for the prestigious annual Beyond Sport Global Awards, in the Best Partnership or Collaboration category.

The awards, currently in their ninth year, are aimed at giving recognition to organisations that are successfully using sport to promote and achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Qhubeka and Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka’s entry is one of four shortlisted in the Best Partnership or Collaboration category.

The winners, selected after a detailed and audited judging process, will receive a package of substantial business and strategic support, global industry recognition and access to exclusive partnership opportunities.

“We are enormously excited that our partnership with Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka has been shortlisted for the 2017 Beyond Sport Global Awards,” says Tsatsi Phaweni, Qhubeka Executive Director, who will represent Qhubeka at the awards.

“We have been collaborating for many years, and the support that the team has given us as they have grown and joined the World Tour ranks has been instrumental in helping us change thousands of lives with bicycles. Thanks to the visibility that Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka brings to the Qhubeka charity, as well as through their fundraising support and the generosity of their sponsors, we have been able to connect entire communities with bicycles.

“We hope that the Beyond Sport Global Awards will inspire other leading sports teams to create new mutually beneficial partnerships too.”

“It’s a real honour to be shortlisted,” says Doug Ryder, Team Principal at Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka. “Qhubeka is at the heart of why we ride – to help change people’s lives with bicycles, whether it’s through funding bicycles for children who are walking long distances to school every day, or by inspiring them to take up cycling as a sport.

“I also believe that our relationship with Qhubeka is one of the reasons that the cycling world has embraced us. We hope to continue bringing awareness to the charity through every milestone we celebrate as a team.”

The Beyond Sport Global Award winners will be announced at the Beyond Sport United 2017 event in New York City on 26 July.
