Sam Bennett took his second stage at the Czech Cycling Tour when he won the bunch sprint at the end of today’s fourth and final stage from Olomouc to Dolany. In addition, he also won the points classification.

The Irish rider beat Filippo Fortin (Tirol Cycling Team) and Jannik Steimle (Team Felbermayr – Simplon Wels) into second and third respectively at the end of the 157-kilometre stage.

BORA – hansgrohe was yet again in control of the stage, bringing back a 11-rider breakaway, and executed a great lead-out for Bennett for his second stage win.

The team also tried to win the race overall but Jan Bárta was unable to overcome the lead of Josef Cerny (Elkov – Author Cycling Team) who maintained his lead over Bárta.

“We tried to get some seconds in the intermediate sprints with Jan, but that didn’t work out,” said Jan Valach, BORA – hansgrohe Sports Director.

“Juraj was in the break then, and we have been in control of the race. When he was caught on the last lap in Dolany, Erik and Pascal prepared the sprint for Sam, who took his second stage win. In the GC Jan and Silvio remained their second and fourth place, we also won the team classification. I am really happy with the results in this race.”
