World Road Race Champion Peter Sagan goes into the Tour de France today looking to win the green jersey for a remarkable sixth consecutive year. The Slovakian has been in good form recently having won two stages at the Tour de Suisse and the points classification.

Also lining up at the Tour de France is Juraj Sagan and the World Champion says he is looking forward to racing alongside his brother.

“Well, now we are here in Düsseldorf and we are ready,” said Peter. “My preparations went perfect and also the results the last weeks were quite good. For me this Tour is not just special because we start in Germany and I am with BORA – hansgrohe now, it is also special because I can ride the Tour for the first time with my brother Juraj.

“This means a lot to me and we will have good fun the next three weeks. We’ll see how the race goes. First we have to do a good time trial, then we think about the sprints.”

It’s Juraj’s Grand Tour debut and the elder Sagan brother has shown that he is also in good shape, having won the Slovakian Road Race Championships last weekend.

“I am happy to be here with Peter and I am proud to be able to present my Slovakian national champions’ jersey at my first Tour de France,”
said Juraj.

“I will give everything for the team, to support our leaders. It will be a hard and long challenge, but it is also a dream coming true to race in the Tour de France.”
