The organisers of Ghent-Wevelgem have announced that they will use ‘podiummisters’ for the women’s race on March 29th.
“Mister Belgium Personality” Fabio Ronti and “Mister Universe Model Belgium” Philip Moers are the men selected to be involved in the podium ceremony.
The use of podium girls at races has come in for increasing criticism over the past number of years, with critics saying that it’s outdated and that the use of either podium boys at women’s races or podium girls at men’s races should be scrapped. Podium boys were used at last year’s La Course race also.
