Following on from her very impressive performances at the UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Glasgow last week, Ireland’s Lydia Gurley has been listed amongst the starters set to line up at the Ghent Six-Day.

Gurley from Athenry in Galway took fourth place in the Women’s Scratch Race in her debut Track World Cup debut last weekend. That fourth place finish followed on from her sixth in the Women’s Madison with Lydia Boylan.

In the Scratch race, Gurley had been one of just five riders to lap the field in the 40-lap race, and just missed out on a medal on the finish line.

It’s recognition of her performances that she has received the invite to he prestigious Six-Day race which takes place from 15-20 November. The women’s racing will take place on just the two last days of racing though.

Amongst the races on the Women’s programme are a 45-lap scratch race and a 120-lap points race.
