Following on from the four-year doping investigation, and the publication of the Padova report, Danish rider Jakob Fuglsang has been told he needs to consider his future with the Astana team.
It was revealed this week that 17 Astana riders over the years has been associated with the doping doctor, Michel Ferrari. In addition, Astana had five doping cases this year.
“I think he must consider carefully where he works and whom he works with”, Director of Anti Doping Denmark, Lone Hansen, told tv2.dk. “Now Fuglsang is not listed or in the spotlight but I could well imagine saying to Fuglsang, he must think carefully,” continued Hansen.
The Danish Cycling Union President, Niels Sørensen, also had a message for the Danish rider, “If management in Astana is involved in doping cases, and the team is involved in doping cases, whether Jacob is or not, then I say clearly that he should switch teams if it is the truth.”
