Following on from his 9th overall at the Tour de France, Dan Martin (Etixx-Quick Step) has now moved up to 8th overall in the World Tour rankings.
Prior to the Tour, the Irish rider had sat in 11th place in the rankings but thanks to his three top-5 stage finishes and his high overall finish, he now has 280 points.
Peter Sagan (Tinkoff) continues to lead the rankings ahead of Nairo Quintana (Movistar) and Tour winner Chris Froome (Team Sky) who has jumped up from 21st position prior to the Tour.
Spain lead the Nations rankings with 1185 points, with Colombia in second on 1015 points and France in third with 941 points.
Thanks to Martin’s points, Ireland sit in 12th position in the Nations rankings. He is the sole Irish points scorer to-date.
