Steve McNamara, the general secretary of the Licensed Taxi Drivers Association (LTDA), the largest taxi driver organisation in London has called cyclists the ‘ISIS’ of the capital.

His comments came in response to the new ‘crossrail’ super cycle highways that Boris Johnson recently gave the go ahead to throughout London.

Speaking to London’s LBC radio, Mr McNamara said: ‘The loonies out there in the cycling world, they’re almost the sort of Isis of London. Their views and their politics – if you are not with them, and we are with the majority of it, then nothing is too bad for you.’

McNamara also accused cyclists of physically attacking taxi drivers, as well as blaming the cyber attacks his organisation has been victim to on cyclist groups. ‘We have had cyber attacks on our websites. They are all over us like a cheap suit on Twitter and social media,’ he said.
