A cyclist in the United States has posted a video of him being hit by a police officer who was distracted by his phone and drove straight into the cyclist.

The video was posted by YouTube user JW Fas who commented: “Today a local police officer struck me head on while turning onto my road. I was motionless at a stop sign, and he was looking down reading his phone.”

In the video, the cyclist can be seen stopping a T-junction before a police officer turns onto his road and hits the cyclist. The police officer then pulls in before approaching the cyclist. The cyclist explained afterwards that he was scraped and bruised and that he felt incredibly sore.

The cyclist asks him why he was texting and the police officer responds: “I wasn’t texting, I was looking at my phone. It was my bad, I wasn’t paying attention.”
