The 2016 Giro d’Italia is set to start in the Dutch province of Gelderland. The Giro organisers are said to have reached an agreement with the province of Gelderland for the Grande Partenza to take place in the region.

The team presentation will take place in Apeldoorn, which is also where the first stage will start. The second stage has Arnhem as both the start and finish, and the third stage will start and finish in Nijmegen.

The province of Gelderland is expected to pay €5 million, with the municipalities of Arnhem, Nijmegen and Apeldoorn each paying €350,000.
