On the sixth stage of the recent UCI 2.2 Tour de Guadeloupe, two cyclists came to blows following a crash. Joann Ruffine (AS Baie-Mahaut) and Ludovic Turpin (VC Grande-Case) had to be separated by members of support teams and onlookers.

It’s unclear how the crash occurred or what triggered the rage, but Ruffine was subsequently thrown off the race and must pay a fine of 100 Swiss francs.

The former Ag2R rider, Turpin, withdrew from the race which was the final stage. Up to that point, the Frenchman had been riding well. He was sitting in fifth place overall going into the last stage and had taken five top five placings during the week.

Ruffine later apologised on Facebook for his actions, saying, “I want to apologise for my behaviour with my fans, friends, supporters and also the people of Guadeloupe.”
