Former US Postal cyclist Scott Mercier was on the Off The Ball show this week where he spoke about his decision to walk away from the team and explains his concerns for doping in modern day cycling.

He spoke about his experience of witnessing the doping policy first hand within US Postal and his thoughts on the current situation in cycling with the background of positive tests at the Astana Team.

Mercier explained why he thinks the UCI have not been hard enough, saying “I think we need to reach a point where everyone is held accountable.”

He added that based on what has been coming out recently, “doping did not end with Lance Armstrong” and that he is disheartened by the way money continues to talk and prevent real change in cycling.

Mercier also said he and Armstrong have reconnected and our quite close now.
