There appears to have been a lot of tension on the Lotto-Soudal team at the Giro d’Italia, as team-mates Jurgen van den Broeck and Maxine Monfort have been arguing in public. At the stage finish in Cervinia last Friday, an altercation took place between the two which was captured on film.

It’s not known what the reason was for the argument. The two riders had just finished the stage almost three minutes behind stage winner Fabio Aru.

Monfort is heard saying to his team mate, “You’re just jealous. I don’t know why you want to end it for me.” Van den Broeck replies, “But no, I never did.”

Van den Broeck brushed off the incident the following day when he told Danish TV that it was due to the flow of adrenaline and that there was no problem.
