We asked you recently who you thought was going to win the Tour de France, and if the votes that came in are anything to go by, then it’s going to be a close-run Tour.

We gave you a choice of selecting one of the top four favourites, Vincenzo Nibali, Chris Froome, Alberto Contador or Nairo Quintana, or alternatively, selecting an outsider.

Below are the results:

Alberto Contador – 35%
Chris Froome – 33%
Nairo Quintana – 17%
Vincenzo Nibali – 13%
Somebody Else – 2%

Alberto Contador just edges it from Chris Froome. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the name of the outsider that somebody feels could win the race. According to most bookmakers, Froome is favourite ahead of Quintana, Contador, then Nibali. So, it’s interesting to see that a lot feel that Contador is capableof doing the Giro-Tour double.

In yesterday’s prologue, Nibali was the fastest of the four favourites. However, there were only 18″ between the quartet. Below are the times that each of the riders finished behind the stage winner Rohan Dennis.

Nibali @ 43″
Froome @ 50″
Contador @ 58″
Quintana @ 1’01”

So, there’s not too much to take from the prologue as to who is in good form. There are some tricky stages this week, where we might get more of an indication as to who are the riders to look out for.
