This video from Cannondale Pro Cycling Team goes behind the scenes at last weekend’s Paris-Roubaix and features members of the team outlining what’s involved in preparing for the epic race.

“The one-day classics are very long, you know, they’re a lot of hours,” said their Kiwi rider Bauer. “So, you need to have a big engine, you need to have a lot of fuel, a lot of reserve. So what I’ve been doing from September, October through to the New Year is trying different foods on long rides.”

Dutch rider Dylan van Baarle explains: “We’ve been training a lot on the cobbles. I prepare myself also with watching videos of the past.”

Van Baarle was their top finished in 16th place, 2’20” behind race winner Mathew Hayman. Next best was Alan Marangoni in 62nd place with Bauer in 70th.
