An online bike shop based in Spain have what they’ve described as the time-trial bike used by Swiss Grand Tour winner Tony Rominger in 1996 available for sale on ebay at the moment.
vintage.luxury.bicycles have put a price of USD $25,000.00 on the Colnago Krono bike which is fitted with Shimano Dura Ace components and Fir wheels. The bike also has a ‘Rominger’ decal on the top tube.
Rominger won both the Giro d’Italia (1995) and Vuelta a España (1992, 1993 and 1994) during his career. In addition, he also won the Tour of the Basque Country (1992, 1993, 1994), Giro di Lombardia (1989, 1992), Tour de Romandie (1991, 1995), Tirreno–Adriatico (1989, 1990) and Paris–Nice (1991, 1994).
In 1996, when he used this bike, the Swiss rider raced for Mapei–CLAS and finished third overall at the Vuelta which was won by compatriot Alex Zulle. Rominger both time trials in that edition.
