An online bike shop based in Germany have what they’ve described as the bike used by Italian sprinter Mario Cipollini at the Tour de France in 1997 and 1998 available for sale on ebay at the moment.

i.c. bicycles have put a price of $19,867 on the Specialized CAAD 3 Time Trial bike which is fitted with Campagnolo Record components and Spinergy wheels. The 9-speed bike also features a Cipollini decal on the top tube and ‘Cipolatt’ stamped under the bottom bracket.

Cipollini who raced for Saeco Macchine da Caffe’ – Cannondale at the time, won two stages in both the 1997 and 1998 Tours de France. The 1998 Tour de France started with a 5.6-kilometre prologue in Dublin, where the Italian finished in 18th place, 13″ behind the winner Chris Boardman. In the Giro d’Italia, he won five stages in the ’97 race and four the following year.

  1. Is the seat height at the exact setting Mario had when he raced it? And did he run his same 172.5 crank size on this bike? I know he was 6 ft 2 or maybe slightly taller?
