The UCI have today announced the list of 61 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) qualified for the men’s road race and time trial for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro later this year.

Belgium, Colombia, Spain, Great Britain and Italy have each qualified the maximum number of five riders.

Australia, France, Germany and the Netherlands are amongst the countries to qualify four riders, whilst the USA and Ireland will have just two riders lining up in the road race, with no Irish rider qualifying for the time trial.

According to the Olympic qualification system calendar for Road Cycling, the NOCs must confirm the number of athletes entered by 1 February 2016, before the UCI reallocates the remaining places.

The list of NOCs qualified for the Road Cycling Women’s events as well as the athletes’ quota allocation will be communicated in early June 2016.
