Trek-Segafredo have announced that Julien Bernard and Kiel Reijnen have extended their contracts for two years.

25 year-old Bernard, is a proficient climber and showed big improvements over the last years, gaining experience in the pro peloton as he rode in support of the team’s leaders. With the Vuelta a Espana he is currently riding his second Grand Tour of the season after undertaking the Giro d’Italia in May.

Bernard: I am really happy to extend my contract at Trek-Segafredo. My adventure with the team started two years ago at the Tour of Colorado, and I am thrilled to stay with the team for two more years. I like this environment a lot, and I feel really at home here, both with the riders and the staff.”

“I want to keep learning and improving and will continue to give it my all for the team. At a personal level, for the years to come, I want to become a winner. I am convinced I can win races and to prove that by winning at least one, but hopefully doing more races will be one of my main goals for the years to come. Another goal is, of course, to participate in the Tour de France. After doing the Giro and the Vuelta, I would love nothing more than to start in the Grand Tour of my own country!”

General Manager Luca Guercilena:
“Julien has made an impressive progression since he joined the team two years ago as a stagiaire. He is every inch a professional and has a very consistent level throughout the year. Initially, it wasn’t on the plan for him to do both Giro and Vuelta, but he showed excellent form in the Colorado Classic and came to the start in Nîmes highly motivated and ready to work hard for the team. I am convinced that he has a lot of room for improvement and we are looking forward to seeing how far he can go.”

Kiel Reijnen: “Trek Segafredo has been an even better fit than I could have hoped for. From the first team camp to my first Grand Tour, the team has been supportive in helping me find my place in the peloton. It has been an honor to work with the Trek Segafredo staff and to help my team leaders achieve their goals. I’m looking forward to another two years shredding the curves, bumping shoulders in the sprints, and leaving it all out on the road with my teammates.”

General Manager Luca Guercilena: “Just like Julien, Kiel has also improved a lot over the last two years. I believe he has found his way and his place in the team and the WorldTour peloton. He is an incredible team player with fast legs, which gives him an important role in the lead-out train, but he can also win sprints of smaller groups for himself as he proved in last year’s Tour of Utah (where he won stage 5). I am sure that in the years to come he will gain more confidence and thus consolidate this role as a fast all-rounder that can help the team on many occasions.”
