Tomorrow’s fifth stage of Tirreno-Adriatico from Foligno to Monte san Vicino has been cancelled due to snowy conditions at the finish with the weather expected to worsen.
The 178-kilometre stage was due to finish at the 1208-metre climb of Monte San Vicino and take in another four categorised climbs along the way.
The organisers confirmed the news in a press release. Their press release read as follows:
“In compliance with the Extreme Weather Conditions Protocol, the 5th stage of Tirreno – Adriatico has been cancelled. The Race management, in agreement with the Jury and all the Parties concerned, decided to cancel the Foligno – Monte san Vicino stage, due to the snowy conditions at the finish and the wordening weather forecast. The decision was made to ensure the health and safety of the riders.”
