One day after taking his first U23 Superprestige win at Boom, Tom Pidcock has followed up that performance with his first victory in an U23 World Cup race. The Briton fought a tough battle to cross the line first in Koksijde. The result means he’s the first leader in the World Cup.

Early on, Pidcock went clear with Adam Toupalik and Eli Iserbyt. It soon became a two-man battle as Iserbyt faded. On the final lap, Pidcock broke clear from his Czech breakaway companion to go on to take the win.

Tom Pidcock: “I took lessons from racing on the sand in Boom, but today it was better. Toupalik raced to the top of the dunes faster and took the lead often, so my plan was to take him on for the last one and a half laps. I felt stronger than him on the sections between the sand.”

“I wasn’t fully confident because it’s still only my third race with the U23s. On the last sandy strip, I made sure not to go too deep. Toupalik came close again, but I could speed up again afterwards.”
