A new Hong Kong- Chinese produced drama about cycling was released recently, and To the Fore looks incredibly action-packed.

The film is directed by Dante Lam and stars Eddie Peng, Shawn Dou, Choi Siwon and Wang Luodan. To the Fore was released on August 6, 2015 in Hong Kong and August 7, 2015 in China, although we’re unsure as to whether it will be released elsewhere.

Taiwanese bike manufacturer Merida sponsored To the Fore, supplying some 300 bikes for the cast and it was filmed in Taiwan and other parts of Asia. It had originally been planned to call the film “Breaking Wind” but thankfully, the production team changed the name prior to release.

Former pro Mauro Gianetti acted as technical consultant, and the film was selected as the Hong Kong entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards.

However, despite having some great stunts, it seems that the film hasn’t been well received by all. Derek Elley of Film Business Asia gave the film a 4 out of 10, calling it a “dramatically lame drama about bicycle racers [that] never gets its wheels off the ground.”
