Another day down. As I write this on my android phone running kitkat, if I had to use a word to describe my ride today it’d be “weasel”. I made sure to get as good a position as possible at all times to try and keep myself out of trouble although I did have a close call dodging a few lads that came down in front of me with 30k to go. Keanu, I’ll be running training courses next week.

The pace was fast today from the start. Some fast lineouts out of towns and roundabouts, I just had to put down the head down and bury it. After 50k when the feed zone opened, the pace eased off and the gentlemen relieved themselves and it was time to eat. The lads road piano for 30k. This is what the Ras is all about, a glimpse of how the pros manage a race.

This week is a sample of living the pro life. The care we’re getting is second to none. If Francis could do the same melted heads before an exam as she could for my legs before the stage today she’d be a millionaire! Graham, Lyndsey and Damien are looking after every detail too, which allows us to just focus on riding our bikes. I was even asked for my photo today at the stage finish. If I’d have asked for a copy too, I think that would have ruined the illusion!

The pace ramped up for the last 50k, as the business had to be done. The break was reeled in one by one as the kilometres counted down. Chapeau to those hard men who fought hard in the headwind.

Another day down, 6 to go…

Mick
